About

For over 20 years i have had bladder and bowel problems and now have a supra-pubic catheter and also a chonic condition called prostatitis.
My problems started in my 20's with bladder problems. i started getting light urinary incontinence, leakage on sitting, and bending walking etc.
Been so young i tried to hide these symptoms, i was too frieghtend to seek advice, this still is a common problem.
As time progressed i found that i was sleeping all night long without going to the toilet and would wake up with a very painfull bladder, so bad that i would be hardly unable to walk. Durring the day i would find i was not going to the toilet to pass urine for endless hours or i would need the toilet every 5 minutes then only pass small amounts.
On top of this i started getting bowel leakage, constipation and problems with diarrhoea. Although i had these ongoing problems i did not seek advise and just masked what was happening to me.
It was not until i landed a part time media job that i knew that i had to seek treatment and with this i saw a continence advisor. They detected a problem with my bladder but at that early stage the full damage was not known.
It took a good few test to find out that i had ibs, and that my bladder was atonic, by the time i had my operation to have a catheter put in my bladder had gone over 2 pints in cappacity.
I would ask that any one who is trying to deal with incontinence symptoms on their own should try to seek some kind of advise. Please do not feel ashamed of this condition and please do not get in to a situation like what happend to me.
If you are worried about seeing someone then i have set up a new community forum where you can post freely about your symptoms.
